| Brabin's Shop, Gallery & Tea
Garden is the oldest continuously trading shop in Britain having been
built in 1668 by John Brabin as a house and shop from which he traded
cloth. Today the shop sells greetings cards, stationary, newspapers,
cigarettes and a wide range of gifts including jewellery, local
souvenirs, glassware, traditional wooden toys etc. The shop also stocks
locally made cheese from Leagram Organic Dairy, Mrs Darlington's jams,
biscuits and cakes plus over 50 types of traditional sweets in jars
and Ice Cream from Bond's of Elswick. A wide selection of home-made
cakes are also available to take away or to enjoy in our small seating
area with a pot of tea or coffee. click

butchers business which was started in 1906 by William Robinson
in a small shop on Talbot Street.
The business is now run by the fourth generation of the family from a
shop only 200yds from these original premises. Much of our meat sold
is from the family farm, with locally sourced beef, lamb and pork from
farms in the surrounding area making up the majority of other produce
sold. Indeed the family pride themselves on knowing the origin of each
